As the Technologist for the St. Clair College Journalism, Media Convergence and Public Relations’ programs, I manage up to 20 broadcast cameras and 5 DSLR cameras. With around 70 students per year checking out equipment and lugging it around town covering various stories, there is bound to be accidental mishaps with equipment.
This camera was returned with a broken front frame. The front frame is the support for the lens and is also the front pillar for the top handle of the camera. The front handle pillar broke either due to mishandling, carrying the camera via the handle with the tripod attached or just wear and tear over 6 years of use.
